The Oak Barn is actually two connected barns, one an eighteenth century granary converted to a stunning hall with traditional oak cruck trusses, the second a 19th century barn which has been converted to a reception room, kitchen and accommodation (three bedrooms all en suite). The conversion has been undertaken to the highest standards using oak from the farm and traditional building methods.
The Oak Barn is a beautiful wedding venue in a historic Devon farmstead situated within beautiful rural surroundings, with endless photo opportunities.
This is a 'Venue Only' so couples can organise a unique wedding with the suppliers of their choice. The owners (John & Catherine) are on site throughout to give advice and assistance if needed. Weddings here tend to be family orientated and are relaxed and happy affairs.
By day, the traditionally restored 1903 Traction Engine has provided the unique backdrop for many wedding ceremonies, and then by night, is transformed into the heart of the party – complete with glitterball!
Following the ceremony, guests are encouraged to spill out onto the oak framed decked terrace and beautifully maintained lawns, where any children (and adults if they wish!) can run free in a safe and protected environment.
When it’s time to eat, guests make their way through to the oak beamed reception area which is filled with natural light. With plenty of space to seat 120, the bride and groom can clearly keep an eye on everyone in their party!
Just 10 minutes from Exeter, the location of Harefield Barn brings you deep into Devon’s beautiful countryside, and it provides spectacular views from most areas, inside and out. The building is designed with a clean, modern appearance, but retains the traditional ambience of exposed beams and cosy woodburning stove.
It is designed with flexibility in mind, so that you can either create your own personal event or take advantage of our expertise to help you with the planning and execution of your day. The owner's home is nearby, so they are on hand as much or as little as you require, available at a few moments notice if necessary.

Not only is the house a fully licensed wedding venue, but can also sleep up to 70 guests in the Manor and a further 11 in Cork Tree Cottage.

You have the luxury of choice with either an indoor ceremony in the stunning Threshing Barn, outdoors in the naturalistic Walled Garden or the south facing sun terrace overlooking a breath-taking wooded valley. Therefore you can get married at Hayne in the afternoon and follow on straight into your reception.
There are also many beautiful churches located close to Hayne, so if you choose to get married in a church, then you can still use the venue for your reception, wedding breakfast and evening party.
